This project was a collaboration with Design Ignites Change, The International Rescue Committee, and Project H. Together with 3 other students, Miika Mahonen, Jason Hu, and Claire Toussaint, we were challenged to design and build a kitchen table that would ultimately be given to San Francisco Bay Area refugees from countries such as Burma, Nepal, Iran and Iraq.
The material was donated, and the project was a semester long. Throughout the process we were able to visit families recently relocated to the Bay Area, work exstensively on sketches, sketch models, full size models, final prototypes, while learning about manufacturing processes, jig making, and delivery.
